Plant Masters: Teachers or Demons? Finding Your Path with Itzhak Beery

Tue Jan 27, 2026 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM EST
Online, Zoom

When I first drank that brown, bitter liquid deep in the Amazon with the Shuar people in 1997, I knew nothing about it. I had never even heard the word Ayahuasca, or “Natem”, as the Shuar call it. I entered with humility and fear, guided by their elders. Times have changed. Dramatically.

Today, almost everyone has heard of them. Many have tried them – in urban basements, retreat centers, Peru, and far beyond. With this quick spread, there is a lot of confusion and misinformation. Are these plants healers or tricksters? Medicine or danger?

What are we truly engaging with when we drink Ayahuasca or Yagé, sit with Huachuma, work with mushrooms, cacao, guayusa, rapé, tobacco, mapacho, coca paco, or even coffee? What are their spirits? How do they differ? Which plants open the heart, which sharpen the mind, and which demand deep preparation and respect? And how do we integrate their lessons and teachings back into our lives?

In this webinar, we will explore shamanic journeying, and I will guide you through the complex and often misunderstood world of plant medicines – beyond trends, fantasies, and fear. Drawing on decades of direct experience with many indigenous elders, I will discuss discernment, intention, lineage, and responsibility.

This isn’t about chasing visions. It’s about discovering which plant allies can genuinely support your growth, healing, and contribution to a more conscious and harmonious society—and learning how to walk this path safely, respectfully, and wisely.

The webinar will start at 3pm NYC / 8pm UK / 9pm CEST. A recording will be available for all ticket holders for 30 days.

About Itzhak

Itzhak Beery (www.itzhakbeery.com) is a leading shamanic teacher, healer, speaker, community activist, and author of three Amazon bestsellers books. He received ‘Ambassador for Peace Award’ from The Universal Peace Federation and the UN.

Since 1995, he bridges the spiritual and practical wisdom his indigenous teachers entrusted in him with a powerful contemporary approach relevant to our stressful and unbalanced modern times.

Itzhak apprenticed with Taita Don José Joaquin Pineda a well-known fifth-generation Ecuadorian Quechua Yachak (shaman) from the village of Iluman, who initiated him into the Sacred 24 Yachaks Circle of Imbabura. He was also initiated by Shoré, an Amazonian Kanamari Pajè (shaman) on the banks of the Rio Negro. Itzhak studied and assisted for 12 years with Ipupiara Makunaiman (Dr. Bernardo Peixoto) and his Peruvian curandera wife. Additionally, Itzhak studied with elders and shamans in North and South America, Greenland, Siberia, and of his contemporary teachers are Michael Harner, John Perkins, Hank Wesselman, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, and Tom Cowan.
