Cosmologies give spiritual practice the necessary components to be meaningful or whole. A cosmology offers a coherent view of reality, where it came from, our place within it, and why we are here. Without this, spiritual experiences while truly ecstatic and resonant in the moment, are often fragmented or dissonant to integrate and lack a compelling motivation for the sustained effort of new actions.

When we cobble together a cosmology by “taking what serves and leaving the rest,” we practice a kind of spiritual confirmation bias, not to mention the appropriation and extraction. We tend to “leave behind” all of the parts that bring us to the discomfort of aligning with a truth that demands that we grow out of ourselves.

A cosmology provides the fundamental elements and rules of the universe for being a better human that apply to all of us, equally, all the time, with no exceptions.

A working cosmology allows us to put the harmony and interconnectedness of our peek experiences into context in a way that the energetic principles experienced can be turned into daily practice and actions that change our excessively negative impact on life in our world.
