Being The Voice of Change – A call to aspiring leaders at the forefront of global transformation

This retreat focuses on how we use our voice to make positive change in the world. You will be held in a compassionate, self-reflective field to more deeply connect with your life’s purpose. Then, together, we will challenge ourselves by employing various techniques to access new ways of authentically expressing our life’s purpose.

How do we use our voice to become magnetic and compelling? How do we use our voice to attract what we need to achieve our goals? And how do we use our voice to build confidence in the rightness of our existence and the rightness of our mission?

Join Vocal Transformation coaches, Maryn Azoff, her partner, Patrick Surdam, and Curandero and Educator Jeff Firewalker, PhD at AKERA Retreat Center in New York. It’s situated on 123-acres of pristine Catskills nature, including serene forests, rolling meadows, babbling waters, horizon views with both sunrises and sunsets, and diverse wildlife.

Vocal Transformation is a modern approach to an ancient method to fully claim the range and resonance of your voice while opening up your connection to the creativity that flows through you. It blends the spiritual and the scientific to produce profound results in opening up the full capacity of the human voice. Vocal transformation is a process of deprogramming that opens the channel for Spirit to once again drive the creative process and for the practitioner to reclaim their fullest expression and most powerful voice.

‘Being The Voice of Change’ explores esoteric (yet accessible) teachings and native wisdom traditions while harnessing our deepest creative resources as a pathway to a powerful life. For anyone who wants to uncover both blockages and hidden treasures, this is a retreat for you.

We are so excited to hold our classes in AKERA’s just built 3k FT CUSTOM WOODEN DOME, which is perched on a hilltop and who’s terrace opens to the eastern horizon of the Catskills. Natural interior acoustics from the wood paneling and curvature offer an incredible resonance that will take our voices to a whole new level.

During our time together, we will focus on building confidence and breaking through limitations, both physical and emotional, that prevent us from realizing our life’s purpose.  Through direct experience, you will learn tools and techniques to heal and uncover untapped inner resources and resolve.  We will learn the science and magic behind using our voices to heal our bodies, manifest our reality, and liberate our spirit.

This retreat is best for those who are seeking insight and strategies for being an agent of positive change at this time of global turmoil and transformation.

    ABOUT THE COACHES

Maryn Azoff is an internationally recognized Vocal Transformation facilitator empowering people to reactivate the entirety of their voice—a faculty they likely haven’t experienced since birth. A classically-trained singer and lifetime student of various lineages, ancient wisdoms, and practices worldwide, Maryn merges modalities and vocal techniques that have been used for 8,000+ years that modern science is only just beginning to understand. In the process of healing a severely broken neck and re-training herself to open a locked jaw to use her own voice again, Maryn’s Vocal Transformation Method emerged alongside her life’s mission to awaken the full vocal capacity of the human race. Over the past decade of teaching, she has witnessed miracles through this work, and transformation in all areas of her students’ lives: from their relationships, to healing physical/mental/emotional ailments, and ultimately, shifts in consciousness that help them come into who they really are.

Patrick Surdam is a musician, author, songwriter, and ceremonialist. He has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. In addition to his musical background, Patrick is deeply devoted to a spiritual path, rooted in Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice and Peruvian Mestizo Curanderismo tradition. Inspired by these rich traditions, he has dedicated himself to a life of service, primarily working with the human voice as a powerful tool for healing. With his partner and musical collaborator, Maryn Azoff, he teaches the Vocal Transformation Method™, a program that utilizes Sanskrit chanting and the chakra system to explore psychological development to empower individuals to heal themselves. For the last 7 years, they have been leading Vocal Transformation retreats all over the United States and throughout Central and South America.

Patrick’s work as a Vocal Transformation coach offers him a unique opportunity to share the richness and beauty of his life experience and diverse spiritual influences to inspire health, vitality, and creativity in others.

Jeff Firewalker Schmitt is an educator, folk healer, master ceremonialist, musician, and scientist. Jeff is a teacher of the healing arts of South America and the Andes. He spent the bulk of his science career helping people leverage their innovations into practical tools to help people lead healthier lives. He has held full professorships at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Biochemistry, Physiology-Pharmacology, Integrative Medicine, and Translational SciencesHe founded and directed the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative at Wake Forest School of Medicine (now Wake Forest Innovations). Until recently, he was director of research for the Center for Integrative Medicine at Wake Forest.

As a sound artist, Jeff’s work has spanned music-for-modern-dance to funk and blues-driven social commentary. His key interest is using song and music as a vehicle for storytelling, enjoyment, and awakening.  Over the past three decades, he has had the privilege of collaborations with Mitch Easter (REM’s producer), Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers Band, Government Mule), John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood), Vernon Reid (Living Color), and many others.

    WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

“Attending this retreat was nothing short of transformative. We spent our days immersed in nature, surrounded by lush plants and serene ponds that provided the perfect backdrop for play and deep emotional release. Maryn and Patrick created a safe container for us to let go of emotions that had been stuck in our bodies for years through movement, chanting, screaming, and crying. We also laughed until our sides ached, sang songs that lifted our spirits, and felt an incredible sense of love and community. The food was incredible and nourished our bodies all week. Everyone who attended felt like family by the end. I also went home with so many practices and mantras I can continue working with at home. This retreat was a profound journey of healing, connection, and joy, and I will never forget it.” – Delanie W.

“Maryn led our group through a truly life-changing experience. I cannot believe how much progress I, and EVERYone else in the group, made in just 2 days! Because Maryn truly communicates from her heart, you find yourself gripping to every word — absorbing more information in a short weekend than you would ever think possible. Thank you for creating such a positive, judgment-free environment, and thank you for pushing me! I truly turned over a new leaf with your help. I cannot recommend attending this retreat enough!” – James P.

“Loved everything about. it. Super special to be with people who are on the same path of awakening and working on similar growth patterns.” – Lisa W.
