Let’s start with a statement since it’s important to my argument: shamanic journeying is something anyone can learn and practice; you don’t need to be an indigenous shaman to journey for yourself. It’s a journey that unfolds deep within your subconscious mind, extending both internally and externally. Spiritually speaking, whether you’re delving deep inside your subconscious, connecting with your soul, or reaching out to your higher self and other spirits, it all leads to the same cosmic source.
Think of it like Earth’s magnetic field, constantly cycling in and out. Similarly, whether you believe you’re delving into the depths of your subconscious or communicating with spirit guides outside yourself, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that this practice helps and yields results. The spiritual realm is interconnected, all emanating from the same universal source, only wearing different masks.
So, what guidance do we encounter during a shamanic journey? Well, in my experience, and from what I’ve learned, the solutions to our problems, even those deeply personal ones, don’t come from a self-centered viewpoint. Even when I ask questions about my own life, my journey, my purpose, or my relationships, the answers I receive are interwoven into a grander tapestry of the cosmic puzzle.
Real spiritual guidance doesn’t emanate from ego; it comes from a holistic perspective. It’s like Buddhism’s concept of “right action” or “wholesome action.” When you act on this guidance, the effects resonate far beyond you, benefiting not just you but everyone around you, as Buddhists might say, “benefit all beings.”
Drawing from my experiences and training, I’d like to tie shamanic journeying specifically to Zen which emphasizes one’s personal experience over dogma, teaching and scholarship. Shamanic journeying is experiential. While healers might take that approach, it doesn’t have to be a passive healing where the healer does everything for the client who lies there like a log. But the magic happens when both the healer and the client embark on the journey together, striving for the same goal.
It’s tough to be skeptical when you’re experiencing this journey within yourself. And the beauty is, you can do it anytime, without the need for psychedelics. That’s the third benefit of shamanic healing: you can learn, practice, and experience it independently, gaining first hand proof of its effectiveness.
Therefore it is like having a tool to tap into your intuition and inner guidance—a voice that comprehends the grand cosmic plan, how everything fits together. This guidance can lead you to make choices that align with the universe’s grand design, and act your cosmic role.
Now, consider this on a broader scale. Meditation and yoga have gained popularity over the years, and psychedelics are resurging, thanks to scientific perspectives. However, not everyone resonates with these practices. We’re missing something vital in our society to tackle the colossal challenges we face. Something bigger than our modern wellness issues.
These challenges encompass the climate crisis, de-globalization, geopolitical shifts, demographic changes, advancements in AI technology, economic disruptions, collective trauma, and more. Some call it the “meta-crisis,” a complex onion of disasters that seems insurmountable for any single nation or even the entire planet.
That’s where shamanic healing comes in. By addressing our personal traumas, fears, and energy blocks, we can envision and create a different future. This not only benefits us but ripples out to the collective, benefiting everyone. It’s like setting a chain reaction of positivity in motion, one that could potentially help humanity on a global scale. I truly hope.
While I can’t predict exactly how this will unfold, who will lead the way, or when it will happen. I truly believe in the potential of shamanic healing done via journeying, having witnessed its transformative power over the years. Being able to receive a “diving message” on a personal level of interaction; this is why practice is so crucial. because it will ripple out.
I invite you to share your thoughts and comments with me. Let’s engage in a conversation about this thesis and its potential to change not just individual lives, but humanity as a whole.
