Luitha TamayaIt sounds really dramatic, but shamanism has truly saved my life.

After my dad died in 2006, I became so ill that I was nearly hospitalized. I was on the verge of giving up completely - I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep and I couldn't think clearly.

All of the wounds and issues I'd been carrying were screaming at me to get some help, but no one seemed to know how to help me.

It was at this point that I finally drummed up the courage to make contact with a shamanic healer. The first words she said to me were that I wasn't crazy, or bad.

In my first session with her I felt safe for the first time in my life. She performed a soul retrieval for me that threw light on everything I was going through, and it gave me the strength to start dealing with all the grief and pain.

I have no doubt in my mind that if I hadn't found shamanism, I would either be in a hospital somewhere or dead. Through learning to journey, and going through the healing of the medicine wheel as part of my training, I have discovered that all those things I thought were weaknesses and things 'wrong' with me were actually gifts.

I thank Spirit every day for the blessing of this path in my life, and for my amazing teachers and guides who have supported me on it!
