I would like to start a general discussion on working professionally as a shaman/ shamanic practitioner. A place to share our experiences, conundrums & concerns. Everything from practical information regarding working in the age of technology, marketing & networking to mystical & transformational techniques. What would you like to talk about first? I now pass the talking stick to you....

Forgive my being a newbie, but I like to toss out a few thoughts:

The idea of taking money for one's service is controversial. However, I noticed last night while reading a poem posted online called simply, "Shaman", that some do take "alms":

I am undecided as to whether I like the idea or dislike it.

As for marketing, set up a table at a new age festival. Crank out a flyer, let the world know what you want to do. But be ready to back up your claims.

Then there's using technology: build a website, start a blog, Facebook, twitter, etc..

Since our society isn't organized into tribes much anymore, one has to essentially "create" a tribe via marketing.
