I'm a student at University of California, Davis in California, and I am curious about shamanism. I know only very little about it, so I don't understand a lot of things and terminology. Where can I go to learn about shamanism and contacting spirits near Davis?
And what are some good online resources about shamanism?

I'd start with a book that I believe is called The Way of the Shaman by Michael Harner. That will give you a good background into Shamanism. Just put in The title of the book into Amazon's search window and it will come up with the book and books like it.
That's all I can come up with. Think about earth based religons (aka pagan religions) and find one that interests you the most and study that. Learn all about that earth religion and you should be able to learn the shamanic portions of it. Then pick another religion and learn all about that one. Repet ad infinitum.
Hope that helps, WaterDragon

So, is the Foundation for Shamanic Studies a good place to start?
