I have seen the phrase opening sacred space several times in this section. Could I get a description of how to do this and perhaps some links?
My journeying is always preceded by rattling and dancing to the directions, and I thank my spirits afterwards.

There are many ways to open sacred space. Simply setting the intention with each direction or perhaps even facing each direction using sacred sage. Or you can do it more formally by facing the each direction (beginning with the south, west, north and east and then the earth and the heavens). You are at the center and surrounded with the protection of the organizing principles. I was trained in a South American tradition and I attach a link to a sample of how we are taught to open directions.
